McGill Panhellenic Council

Hello and a warm welcome from the McGill Panhellenic Council! Broadly speaking, we are a supportive community of women who are committed to empowerment, philanthropy, knowledge, diversity, and sisterhood. The McGill Panhellenic Council is an overarching organization that advocates for and advances sorority causes in our community. We meet weekly to organize events for the McGill sororities, the Greek letter community as a whole, and McGill at large. Our biggest event is fall recruitment, during which McGill undergraduate women get to know the sororities and decide if they’d like to join our community. Other types of events include fundraisers, networking events, and workshops.

Our council is made up of five delegates, one from each sorority, and five executive officers. Delegates facilitate communication between the council and their sorority while also representing their chapter throughout the council’s decision making. Our delegates are elected annually by their respective sorority. The five executive officer positions are President, VP of Recruitment, VP of Administration, VP of Finance, and VP of Public Relations. Our executive officers choose the next year's officers from among a pool of applicants, which are then approved by the sororities. To meet our current delegates, click here. Our council is supported by the National Panhellenic Conference, NPC. Made up of 26 member organizations, the National Panhellenic Conference is the world’s largest umbrella organization specifically charged with advancing the sorority experience. Each year, NPC-affiliated collegians and alumnae donate more than $5 million to worthy causes, provide $2.8 million in scholarships to women, and volunteer 500,000 hours in their communities. Through its advocacy, NPC seeks to enlist nearly 5 million sorority women in its efforts to showcase the transformational power of the sorority experience.

NPC has refreshed their branding in recent years, incorporating elements from their previous logo. The new logo features NPC’s Greek-influenced laurel leaf and familiar Kelly green and adds in new colors: pink, plum and gold. The McGill Panhellenic Council has in turn adopted a logo which shares elements of NPC’s. The five leaves represent the five sororities on our campus, each taking one of the signature colours of the respective sorority. The martlet at the center symbolizes McGill, which is also at the heart of everything we do.

We, as Undergraduate Members of women’s fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities. We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live.
